Commodore's Corner - Volunteers Needed

Published 2:08pm on 12 Aug 2021

We recently finishing our Adult LTS and Youth LTS programs for the year. Both programs have brought us new, active club members. We have also had a steady stream of new members outside of these programs. This is great news! We have returned to our normal social programs such as Fire Fridays and Fingers on the Fingers. It has been wonderful seeing all of you at these events. For those of you that have been able to make the last few general meetings, you are aware that we have had plenty of projects going on, like the shower house floor repair, repairing the green boat's engine, and the upcoming cat beach revitalization. All of this takes volunteers and I cannot thank them enough.

We do need more help. Both of our LTS programs have long waiting lists. We just do not have enough instructors to fill the demand. We are also in need of volunteers to help with our social programs. Right now, a handful of people organize and run these events. In addition to all of the visible activity, there is plenty that happens behind the scenes. One of my projects is to take advantage of technology to help reduce the effort it takes to keep things running. To do this I am looking for a few people with IT skills. The primary focus for them will be to make sure we are using our tools as effectively as possible to keep our business processes streamlined making it easier on our volunteers.

Volunteering does not mean that you will be taking on a second job. A few hours of your time each month goes a long way to help ACSA operate. Please reach out to me directly (commodore@alumcreeksailing.com) if you would like to help. Even if you are not sure what you can do, we can talk and find an opportunity for you so you can leave your mark on our great club.

For those of you that built our organization, thank you. You have provided us a great foundation. It is our responsibility to keep it going and your time to be able to enjoy what you built.
