About Alum Creek Sailing

Misson: ACSA is a volunteer group of sailing enthusiasts committed to promoting the sport by providing hands-on seamanship education, maritime camaraderie, and sailing facilities at Alum Creek Reservoir in service to the central Ohio community.

We are a social organization that promotes sailing activities and enjoyment of the sport of sailing. Throughout the sailing season, we are active in sponsoring regattas, picnics, night sails and weekend trips to neighboring lakes, including Lake Erie. Even in the off-season we get together regularly for activities, fun times, and weather permitting, even a little ice sailing!

Membership

We offer membership for sailing enthusiasts, regardless of whether or not you own a boat. Members can enjoy time on the lake, social events, discounts for sailing organization memberships and reciprocity at yacht clubs across the country.

Facilities

Our harbor is located in Alum Creek State Park off Lewis Center Road just East of Old State Road (Rt. 10). Alum Creek is a 3,400 acre reservoir surrounded by more than 5,000 acres of state park, camping, and the largest inland swimming beach in Ohio.

We operate a sailboat only, 135 slip marina that accommodates boats up to 28 feet and a space for storing and launching small catamarans, dinghies and kayaks. In addition to our docks we have a modern bathhouse with restrooms and showers and a large Pavilion for group gatherings and parties.

Meetings

Our General Membership Meetings are held monthly on the first Monday of the month (unless a holiday), starting at 7 PM. During the sailing season, they are held at the ACSA Pavilion. During the off-season, we find a friendly spot to do club business, renew friendships and dream about the upcoming sailing adventures. The most current meeting information is posted on the calendar of events.

History

The Alum Creek Sailing Association (ACSA) was formed in 1982 to promote the sport of sailing. First started by Prindle, G-Cat and Nacra catamaran sailors who wanted to enjoy the same level of competition when Hobie Cats were king, the Alum Creek Sailing Association quickly became what it is today: sailing families, individual sailors and sailing enthusiasts with various types of vessels (mono-hulls, multi-hulls and sailboards).

In 2004, through the vision and the dedication of the leadership and members along with countless hours of volunteer service, ACSA members built and opened the 135 slip sailboat-only marina located in Swimmer's Cove on the west side of Alum Creek Reservoir.

With more than 200 members, ACSA continues to promote sailing through our social, racing and cruising opportunities. In addition, we run annual Learn to Sail programs and we proudly operate a wonderful facility that all Central Ohio residents can enjoy.
