*******APRIL 6th UPDATE*********** At our general meeting we announced the following updates:
*******APRIL 1st UPDATE*********** Monday, April 6th, starting at 7pm, we will be hosting a modified version of our Monthly Membership meeting via Zoom, an online video conferencing tool. We have a lot of information that we would like to share with our membership, dock holders and anyone associated with sailing on Alum Creek. The health and safety of our club members, dock holders, and all those who use our facility is paramount to the leadership of ACSA. Together, we can make our experience on the water safe and enjoyable. Zoom details were sent to member via email and text. A couple pieces of information to share prior to Monday:

*******MARCH 25th UPDATE*********** Hello Alum Creek Sailors, In response to recent announcements regarding COVID-19 by the Governor of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), and collaboration by Alum Creek Sailing Association's (ASCA) Executive Committee, I need to make you aware of scheduling and process changes being made within our club and at the marina/facility. The health and safety of our club members, dock holders, and all those who use our facility is paramount to the leadership of ACSA. In compliance with State directives, we are cancelling all non-essential club and marina related events until further notice. This includes: Learn to Race Class, Wednesday Night Sailboat Races, Marine Garage Sale, the April General Membership Meeting, and any reservations for the use of the pavilion. We have received instruction from ODNR that we are permitted to open the marina for sailors to dock their boats, but all other facilities including the pavilion and bathroom facilities must remain closed at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, bathrooms will remain locked until further notice.A small group of volunteers will be removing the bubblers from the docks this Saturday, March 28th in order to allow you to dock your boats, but this is the only step of de-winterization that will occur for the club at this time. The important bit that you are all wanting to know: Yes, we are still permitted to sail at our own leisure, but please be cognizant that we should still practice social distancing which means as few people on your boats as possible and no congregations on the docks or at the club.I do not have a date that I can promise for the opening of the bathroom facilities and other amenities, but I will send an update when I do.I apologize for this inconvenience, but rest assured it is temporary and necessary for your safety, that of your fellow sailors, and that of the greater community. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thank you Joe Kuntz, Commodore Craig Micheal, Rear Commodore |
*******MARCH 15th UPDATE*********** Hello Alum Creek Sailors, In response to recent announcements regarding COVID-19 by the Governor of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), and collaboration by Alum Creek Sailing Association's (ASCA) Executive Committee, I need to make you aware of scheduling and process changes being made within our club and at the marina/facility. The health and safety of our club members, dock holders, and all those who use our facility is paramount to the leadership of ACSA. In compliance with State directives, we are cancelling all club and marina related events until further notice. This includes: Learn to Race Class, Wednesday Night Sailboat Races, Marine Garage Sale, the April General Membership Meeting, and any reservations for the use of the pavilion. A small group of volunteers will be working on 3/28 to open the facility, removing the bubblers and getting the bathrooms opened and ready for use. We are still planning on opening up the marina and making the docks ready for use by 4/1. Our upcoming Dock Pick Day (3/21) will be conducted online via an application called Zoom. We will not be holding this meeting in-person. Zoom is an online meeting application that allows for audio and video to be shared with attendees of the call via the internet. The application has a "dial-in" feature in case your device's audio is not working or not functioning adequately. Dock Pick Day is an event that allows current dock holders the opportunity to change their dock for the upcoming sailing season. There is an order that is followed based on your original waitlist number. We start with the PDL holders and then move to the current dock holders. Those in attendance are given the opportunity to evaluate what is open and change their dock for the upcoming season. Available docks change based on any action that may have been taken by the previous selections. Once we have finished with this part, we move to the waitlist for those interested in becoming dock holders. This is the part of the process where those individuals who are looking to secure a permanent dock can move from sub leasing to being a dock holder. Please look for additional information throughout this week and in coming weeks as this situation is very fluid and quickly changing. As a reminder, I will only be communicating specifics via this mailing application to ensure the messages get directly to our membership and dock holders. In advance, thanks for your support as all of us are adjusting to this developing situation. If you have additional questions, please reply to this message. I will do my best to respond in a timely manner. Joe Kuntz Commodore, ACSA | |
