PHRF Time on Distance vs Time on Time

Please read the attached article carefully. It explains the two variables used in TOT. Variable A will be set to 650. It's not critical what this value is, For our purposes it will always be 650. Variable B is the important one. This will be set according to wind conditions as outlined in the article. Around 550 is average.

Although distance isn't used in TOT scoring, keep in mind that all boats in a particular fleet will be sailing the same distance. This is important to remember when thinking about how TOT works.

I've included four series with a comparison of the results for both TOD and TOT: 2024 Spring and Fall Red Cup, 2024 Old Fox Overall results and 2023 Summer Red Cup. Something happened to the 2024 Summer Red Cup results file, so I was unable to use it. I've also included the corrected times for each race of the Old Fox. It's a bit hard to read, but maybe someone will find it interesting.

Please notice in the upper left corner of each results page is listed the variables A and B used in the calculations.

The blue highlighted scores are TOT.
