Facility Closure & Prairie Garden Kick Off
15th November, 8:00am - 12:00pm
It's that bittersweet time of yearboats are tucked away, and the marina needs its winter coat. But here's the silver lining: we get one more day together at Alum Creek!
When: Saturday, Nov 15 (moved from Sunday due to rain)
Prairie Garden Crew: 8:00 AM
Facility Close-Down: 9:30 AM
Fuel for the Crew: Coffee & donuts provided
What's on the To-Do List?
- Install bubblers (keep ice away from docks)
- Shut off water (so pipes don't freeze)
- Light garden cleanup near the bath house
- Prairie Garden prep: Compost first, mulch second. Brian Hoy is bringing the skid steerer for the big piles, but we need hands to spread the smaller ones.
We Need:
- Volunteers for facility close-up
- Volunteers for prairie garden prep
Bring:
- Sturdy rake (metal preferred)
- Garden shoes/boots & gloves
- Your best "many hands make light work" attitude
Why the Prairie Garden Matters:
- Improves water quality by filtering runoff
- Supports native pollinators and wildlife
- Reduces erosion and keeps our marina eco-friendly
This project helps us reach Platinum Ohio Clean Marina statusa big win for ACSA and the environment!
So, while we can't sail, we can make the marina shine and spend a beautiful day with our sailing family. Hope to see you there!
